The captured men at Bataan and Corrigador are among the most gallant men the United States ever knew. I'm honored to say I've had the acquaintance of one man who was a POW of the Japanese during World War II. Nothing the Japanese could do would ever get him to forgive them. The Japanese in uniform during World War II dishonored themselves greatly in their treatment of prisoners of war and civilians throughout the second world war. Today it's not a thing they are proud of, nor do they really acknowledge it, though the Japanese have pretty much foresworn war as much as any country can. The author of this letter once again shows where his heart lies, while serving his country. |
